Qnity Electronics Solid State Chemistry Award

This award is meant to recognize sustained excellence, dedication, and perseverance in research in the area of inorganic solid-state chemistry. The award consists of a cash prize to the winner, as well as a plaque presented to the recipient at the Fall ACS meeting. Recipients are expected to be at the mid-career stage. Preference will be given to nominees who have not won an ACS award during the past five years.

The Solid State Subdivision of the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry (DIC) is pleased to solicit nominations for the 2026 Qnity™ Electronics Solid State Chemistry Award. The deadline for nominations this year is March 15th, 2026. Recipients are expected to be at the mid-career stage, i.e., no more than 15 years from the beginning of their independent research career (e.g. first appointment following their education such as a faculty member or industrial researcher). Preference will be given to nominees who have not won an ACS award during the past five years. Self-nomination is allowed.

Each nomination must include: (1) a 2-page curriculum vitae; (2) a list of the nominee’s 10 most significant publications; and (3) a 1-2 page nomination letter highlighting the key research discoveries that merit a national award in inorganic solid-state chemistry. The letter must include a one-sentence award citation suitable for public announcements, the date that the nominee began their independent career, and an explanation for any extenuating circumstances if the nominee exceeds the eligible career stage. The nomination package must also affirm that the nominee is an active member of the DIC and include the nominee’s ACS member number. Two letters of support (each no more than 3 pages) from individuals familiar with the nominee’s work are required.

All materials should be combined into a single PDF, ordered as listed above, and titled using the candidate’s last name (i.e., “LASTNAME.pdf”). The PDF should be emailed as an attachment to solidstateawards@gmail.com with the nominee’s last name included in the subject line. Please note that solidstateawards@gmail.com is not consistently monitored. Questions regarding the nomination process should be directed to the 2026 Solid State Subdivision Chair (Geneva Laurita, glaurita@bates.edu).
